We Won!
Steve Taylor called me last night as I was getting ready to leave for a meeting. "Dude, did you check out Game Tunnel today?"
"No, I forgot." I then remembered that my game, Void War, had been nominated for Multiplayer Game of the Year, and that today was the day they were announcing the winner for that category.
"Go check it out now," Steve told me.
"How'd we do?" I asked
"I don't want to ruin the surprise for you, just check it."
"I can't, I'm leaving in five minutes. Please tell me."
"Void War won."
"Oh, come on. You are kidding me."
"I'm serious, you won," he insisted.
So when I got back from the meeting, I checked it out. HUZZAH! The competition was fierce this year, and though I'm extremely proud of Void War and its multiplayer, I figured I'd be lucky to place third.
This is going in the scrapbook. I don't think I've won anything resembling a Game of the Year award since Twisted Metal and Warhawk (I think Jet Moto later became known as a classic, but it was highly underrated when it was first released). Yeah, granted, Game Tunnel isn't EGM or Gamespy... but Rampant Games isn't EA or Sony, either. It's a smaller pond, a totally different league, but it's still a big deal for me.
Just had to share.
