More In-Game Maps Should Be Like This
Courtesy of JenaRey:
1. go to maps.google.com
2. click on "get directions"
3. type "New York, New York" in the first box (the "from" box)
4. type "London, England" in the second box (the "to" box) and hit the Get Directions button
5. scroll down to step #23-24

You know, I think there's a gag for the Frayed Knights in this one.
Warrior: "Great. With directions like this, who needs enemies?"
Sorceress: "Well duh, we do! Who do you think gave me the map?"

Hah, that's good. Though it does, even if that wasn't the point, bring up an interesting point in overworld design anyways: How many games can you think of where the cliched "island across the sea" is not simply one region on a tiny isolated island that you have to reach the requirements to reach to do one thing? How many have, I dunno, an "island" of comparable size to the chunk of landmass you start the game on? Same applying to most other land features you have to "pass", but islands are the worst.
Oh, by the way, I tried to register for the forum and couldn't get my confirmation email. I noticed right away the first time I made a typo in my email adress, so I tried again with a period after my name (so it would let me still use the same name) with the right address but it still didn't send.

DGM: I very well could steal this one :)
Brickman: Email me at jayb at rampantgames dot com. I'll fix your account if you cannot log in, though your account IS in the list.

Coyote: Steal away. :)
By the way, do you have names or other details picked out for the characters yet? I'm picturing the warrior as a Roy-like straight man, and the sorceress as a combination of Elan's personality and Black Mage's destructive power.
Though I can't for the life of me decide whether that last one is better or worse than the combination of Black Mage's personality and Black Mage's destructive power. :P

I've got the names picked out - they could change, but I've been living with them for the last several months, so I'm a little attached.
And yeah, sounds like you've been peeking at my notes! :)
