I Rocked Out Too Hard...
And broke my Guitar Hero controller...
It is a day of much sadness. The wheel under the whammy bar made a snapping sound after I'd gone back to play some GH1 (Still haven't 4-starred Bark at the Moon on Hard yet) and then it stopped. Looks like I broke a spring inside of it - or the plastic that was attached to it.
I still have one controller (my oldest one) which functions, but Guitar Hero just ain't nearly as fun without two players. So a visit to the store today is probably in order.
I don't THINK I rock out as hard as some of these other players (I mean, I'm still playing on Hard, not Expert). Maybe playing the whammy down so close to its mount point overdoes it on the spring?

Ouch...my condolences. :(
I wouldn't blame yourself for it, though. The Guitar Hero controllers do have kind of a cheap feel to them. I know their electronics are pretty shoddy (basically, they're really inaccurate and inconsistent, hence the lack of any sort of timing score in GH).

On the plus side, consider the bragging rights: "Dude, I rock so hard that my guitar can't even keep up with me!" ;)
My cousin got the original Guitar Hero for her birthday last month, and having tried it I have to admit that it's a lot more fun than you'd think just from hearing the gameplay described.

The SAD part of it all was that it wasn't even on a seriously hard song or anything. I'd decided to throttle down and do a couple of GH 80's edition songs just for fun, and I was on Asia's "Heat of the Moment."
That's kind of embarrassing!
I mean, breaking the controller on Cowboys from Hell or Jordan or Play With Me would have been much more of a badge of honor. :)
I got another one ordered. In the meantime, I'm gonna see if the other guitar is salvageable.

Same thing happened to me a while ago, I got some good super glue for plastic and glued it back together. suprisingly It hasn't broken again yet.

I blame you :) When we played together a few months ago I mentioned that, sure, abusing the whammy may get you a higher score, but it sounds AWFUL for most of the songs.
No more whammy! Bad rock star! Back to a garage band for you!
