So it's not just cow farts.
Obesity Contributes to Global Warming: Study
Alright, everyone: On your treadmills and games of Dance, Dance, Revolution. Don't just do it for yourself. Do it for the environment!

... I do hope you're linking to this as an example of the ridiculous tabloid 'journalism' that overtakes people when it comes to twisting the evidence and bashing something that's currently out of public favor, rather like "Videogames Cause Life Of Crime", and not because you believe a single word of this crap.
Although the version you linked to is actually a lot less sleazy than the first version of this article I'd seen on the BBC, which pretty much blamed fat people for absolutely everything wrong in the world today and had a picture of a random Huge Fat Belly next to it to try and inspire guilt and shame in the reader.
I've read the 'study' in question - it's not actually a study at all, they didn't study anyone or anything, they simply used some estimated numbers and assumptions to claim that 'If X is true, then Y is true.' It could just as easily have been written that children cause global warming for exactly the same reasons - children can be assumed to consume more calories and be ferried around in cars more often.
The original study was mostly suggesting that people should drive less and walk more. Which I'm in agreement with. I just dislike this sort of 'journalism'. It's sleazy and dishonest.

What? You mean you don't believe everything you hear from these responsible, unbiased journalists? What's wrong with you?
I doubt this is going to be the biggest stretch we'll see, either. Global warming / climate change is a popular social topic, and I think we'll see all kinds of crazy things linked to it (either as cause or effect) in the near future. This won't be the last of the silliness.

If you take the argument a bit further, wouldn't the conclusion be that you should avoid exercise and simply eat less? After all, exercise is frivolous use of calories.
I would've thought that treadmills and DDR would help cause global warming. After all, they use electricity, and that has to be generated somehow...
And I refuse to play Dance Dance Revolution. Mainly because my ankles can't take it, and I don't have whole-body rhythm. If you want me playing an active videogame, it's going to be a trip to San Francisco to play Hyperbowl - the fact that my current staple beer is on tap at that location is just a bonus...
