Gamespot has an informative review and video interview. It sounds like they've made a significant number of improvements, including making the color more vibrant (a dark tone doesn't have to mean drab), replacing health potions with health orbs (which cannot be stored for later use... thereby encouraging movement and challenge), and quest variation.

I'd be ecstatic if I thought it was coming out this year. I'll become a Diablo 3 fanatic next year.
